Hi and welcome to my blog "Journey to Self Love" where I share with you some of the things I have learned and still continue to learn (the marathon continues right?)
I'd like to invite you to share your journey with me too by way of tips or anything you feel might be beneficial.
I took a much needed break from business activities and social media thinking I'd be away for a couple of weeks, 3 at the most but my mind body and spirit decided otherwise. I'd neglected all three and was seriously feeling the effects.
I'm in a better place now having done so and it was during this time away that I gained some personal insight into the concept of self love and that's how "Journey to Self Love" came to be.
We all use the words self care and self love interchangeably but are they one and the same? I carried out a mini survey and most questioned felt self care and self love were separate entities yet the definitions given for each were very similar, while others couldn't really explain the difference.
"It's not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It's necessary" - Mandy Hale
When we think of self care the image that often comes to mind is luxuriously scented bubble baths, having a manicure or going for a relaxing massage. This is not wrong.
I consider these to be extensions of self love and therefore self care cannot exist without self love.
Where self care is related to physical esthetics self love takes on a more holistic approach and links into the health of our mind body and spirit. When these aspects are unbalanced, self care often takes a nose dive.
What are your thoughts on self care/self love? Do you agree that there are differences or are they one and the same thing?
"I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect" - Maya Angelou
Sending you love on your journey
